Q & A
Question : Currently, how many LNG gas filling stations are there?
Where are they located?
Answer : As of now (15/8/2025), there are 2 officially opened LNG gas filling stations:
1.At the PTT NGV station in Ratchaburi province.
2.At the Bangchak station in Map Eang Chonburi province.
Question : Currently, how many LNG fuel vehicles are registered with the Department of Land Transport?
Answer : There are approximately 200 vehicles registered as LNG fuel, with more than 100 installed at Jiamprotech Company.
Question : How do CNG (NGV) and LNG gases differ?
Answer : CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) is compressed natural gas, while LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) is liquefied natural gas. They differ as follows:
1. CNG has the properties of a gas with a pressure of about 200 bars and a temperature of 15-20 °C.
2. LNG has the properties of a liquid with a pressure not exceeding 19 bars and a temperature of -160 °C.
Question : What are the differences between vehicles that use NGV (CNG) and those that use LNG fuel?
Answer : NGV (CNG) gas cars and LNG gas cars differ in several aspects as follows:
1. LNG cars take 10 minutes to refuel, while NGV cars take 30 minutes.
2. An LNG car can travel over 1,200 km on a single refueling (1,000 L tank), while an NGV (CNG) car (with 8 tanks) can only travel 400 km.
3. The LNG engine runs cooler than the NGV engine because the LNG engine uses cold water from heat exchange with LNG gas to connect to the engine's cooling system.
